Winnie Mandela, known as “mother of the nation” the ex-wife late South Africa hero and President, Nelson Mandela, have been declared dead.
She was married to Nelson Mandela for 38 years and played a key part in the campaign to end white-minority rule in South Africa.
The death of the legend was made public by the family spokesman, Dlamini who released a statement said:
“It is with profound sadness that we inform the public that Mrs Winnie Madikizela-Mandela passed away at the Netcare Milpark Hospital, Johannesburg, South Africa on Monday,”.
“She died after a long illness, for which she had been in and out of hospital since the start of the year.
