Why Nigeria need to produce quality movies – Actress, Tolulope Oke

Nollywood Actress and movie producer, Tolulope Oke, has said emphasis the reason for quality movies to promote Nigeria’s image in the comity of nations.

The screen diver, who recently produced a new film, ‘Cookies Spot’, said, “It is important to seek professional expertise in movie production. I must admit that the technical aspect of our movie’s getting better in terms of subediting, music background and post-production. However, the industry should be forward-looking and adopt content that are inspiring and captivating.”

On inspiration behind her new movie, the filmmaker said, “It is a story that reflects life. It is a story of survival. Wherever one finds oneself, one would have to find a way to survive, and that is what the movie is about. The inspiration for the movie actually came from a carwash that turned to a big business.

“I want to sensitise people towards entrepreneurship and that is why I made sure I went for the right actors to pass the message I wanted to pass. I was impressed by the delivery of the actors I worked with, including Adejumo Lewis, Funso Adeolu, Sola Sobowale, Ayo Adesanya, Bolanle Ninalowo and Omowunmi Dada.”

On the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the industry, Oke said, “Digital channels have come to stay to promote products and services. It is also important for actors, movie producers and other professionals in the movie industry to be more sensitive about their health. Anyone who is not physically fit should not participate in any movie production. For that to work, the producers would have to take responsibility. We need to pay attention to everything that matters. That would further put Nollywood in good light.”
