Legendary Brazilian full-back, Dani Alves says he would not have accepted the offer to return to Barcelona had former President, Josep Bartomeu still in charge of the club.
Alves said his major reason is that he left the club in 2016 was because of Bartomeu saying he wants to play again with Paris Saint-Germain forward, Lionel Messi at Barcelona.
Messi left Barcelona for PSG last summer when his contract with the Blaugrana came to an end.
“I would not have accepted an offer from him,” Alves told Alkass Sports Channels.
“I left when he was president and there was no point in working with him again.”
“Messi’s departure was difficult, the club had problems and it was difficult to keep him,” added Alves.
“I was against his departure because he is a living Barcelona legend.
“Unfortunately, things did not go the way we wanted, but I hope that he will return one day and we can play together again.”
