Two armed robbery suspects killed in Enugu – Police

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, on Tuesday, confirmed that two alleged notorious armed robbery kingpins terrorising motorists on the Obolloafor-Markurdi Expressway have been killed.

The police, in a statement signed by its spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu, said the robbers met their waterloo around 3.50am on Tuesday as they were robbing a mini bus along the expressway at Amalla in the Udenu Local Government Area of the state.

“It was gathered that the deceased hoodlums, with their gang members, had blocked the road with drums and were robbing passengers of a Sharon mini bus, with number plate 804 XQ, when police operatives from the Enugu State Command, acting on a distress call, swooped on them and in the ensuing gun duel, two of the hoodlums were gunned down, while other members of the gang, believed to have been hit by the operatives’ bullets, escaped into the bush,” Amaraizu stated.

The PPRO said items recovered from the suspects included guns, iron bar and machetes adding that a manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang had been launched and appealed to the members of the public, particularly hospital operators, to watch out for any one with gunshot injuries.
