A two-storey building under construction at 77, Tapa Road, Oke-Ojo, Isawo in Ikorodu, Lagos State, reportedly collapsed, killing the owner, identified as Pastor Daniel Obasi.
The Lagos State Acting Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, who, said the landlord was the only victim of the collapsed building in the incident that occurred at about 2.30 p.m on Tuesday.
Obasi was earlier reported trapped, but the body was later recovered from the rubble as his body has been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ikorodu.
“The cause of the collapse was suspected to be inadequate timeline to allow sand-filled land to compact properly before the construction started,” Farinloye said.
He said further investigations would be conducted by relevant agencies.
