Popular singer,Robyn Rihanna Fenti will be honoured with an honorary doctorate degree from the University of the West Indies (UWI).
The information of the upcoming award was made known on the University of the West Indies’ website
The singer will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters given to individuals of eminence in the arts, sciences and other fields of intellectual endeavour, including persons who have made excellent contributions at regional or international level.
The 2018 graduation ceremonies will be presided over by the Chancellor Robert Bermudez who will grant degrees to the honorary graduands.
The Barbadian singer will be receiving the honorary degree alongside with The Honourable Justice Adrian Dudley Saunders and Professor Ebenezer Oduru Owusu who will be honoured with Honorary Doctor of Laws and Doctor of Sciences respectively.
This makes it second time the Bajan songstress will be given an award from an academic institution having received the Harvard Foundation award for Humanitarian of the Year in 2017.
The 2017 award was for various charitable endowment including building a state-of-the-art center for oncology and nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat breast cancer in her home nation of Barbados.
