‘AIG’ Arrested In Abuja With 11 ATM Cards

Police arrest kidnap kingpins, rescue victims

The operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested two alleged kidnap kingpins, who specialise in abducting people along the Owerri-Port Harcourt Expressway.

Parading the suspects, Akum Amaechi, 32, of Umuowa, Obiti in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, and David Amuzie, 29, aka Paper Money, the command Public Relations Officer, Orlando Ikokwu, said that the victims, Stanley Anoruo and Oluchi Nnodim, were kidnapped on November 20, 2018.

Ikokwu, who stated that the victims were rescued unhurt and without any ransom paid, gave an assurance that the suspects would be charged to court soon.

The police spokesperson said, “Akum Amaechi, 32, of Umuowa Obiti, and David Amuzie, 29, also known as Paper Money, were arrested on Wednesday.

“It is very important to note that the two victims were rescued unhurt and without any ransom paid, but the gang had earlier collected ransom from other suspects they earlier kidnapped.

“Stanley Anoruo and his driver, Oluchi Nnodim, who were coming back from a function, were waylaid along the Owerri-Port Harcourt Expressway and abducted. Through intelligence gathering, our crack team swooped on the kidnappers and rescued their victims.”
