One dead as bus rams into truck in Ogun

One person reportedly dead while three persons also sustained injuries at the Onipepeye axis of the Abeokuta-Sagamu highway in Ogun State when a bus had a head-on collision with a truck on Sunday.

The accident involved a white Toyota Coaster bus marked AAB-686YJ and a white Man Diesel truck with no number plate.

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) who confirmed the incident, blaming it on reckless driving on the part of the bus driver, who it said, “failed to comply and maintain a lane as traffic was already diverted.”

TRACE corps spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the bus driver’s recklessness at a traffic diversion spot made him lose control and he rammed the vehicle into the truck, resulting in the death of one person.

Akinbiyi said, three men and one woman were involved in the road crash, saying that one of the three men died on the spot while the two of the victims were taken to State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, adding the third victim was taken to another hospital by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
