A 48-year-old man, Mark Onuoha, on Friday appeared was arraigned before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly biting off a woman’s ear.
Onuoha, was charged with assault and causing grievous bodily harm but he pleaded not guilty to the charge, NAN reports.
The prosecutor, Insp Christian Okonofua, narrated to the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 31 at 7 at Itowolo, Ikorodu area of Lagos state adding that the defendant assaulted one Mrs Rebecca Amosun by biting her up and biting off her left ear, the offences he said contravenes Sections 245 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
NEWSCASTARS.COM gathered from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 173 provides for one-year jail term for assault.
The Magistrate, Mrs T. A. Shotobi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N25,000 with two sureties in like sum then adjourned the case until Sept. 13 for mention.
