Imo: we are seeking for correction of mistake not challenging Supreme court’s judgment – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) explained that its decision to seek the review of the Supreme judgement on Imo State was not to challenge the authority of the apex court but rather to correct the alleged mistake the apex court made.

Recall that the Supreme Court, yesterday, threw out the request of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the review of Bayelsa State governorship judgement and fine the applicants.

However PDP said in the statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, that its appeal is different from that of Bayelsa State.

“It is, therefore, instructive to note that the various election matters before the Supreme Court were brought on clearly distinctive grounds and each should be treated on its merit before the law,” he said.

The party stated that its effort was “to assist the Supreme Court affirm its infallibility by correcting the inherent mistakes in the judgement which came as a result of misleading presentation to it by the APC.”

PDP however said APC seek for a review of the Supreme Court judgement on the Bayelsa and Zamfara governorship elections to cause confusion and blackmail the Supreme Court from treating the Imo case on merit.

The party said the reversal of Imo judgement “are unambiguously constitutional and completely distinct from APC’s attempt to blackmail the Supreme Court with their demands on the Bayelsa and Zamfara states governorship election.” as it urge the apex court  not to succumb to the alleged threats and blackmail by APC to restrain itself from looking at the merit of the Imo case; correct the mistakes and reverse the judgement.
