Popular Nigerian singer, Joseph Akinfenwa, popularly known as Joeboy, has explained what success means to him as an artiste.
Speaking in an interview with Sunday Scoop, he said, “Success to me as an artiste means I have been able to preach messages of love and happiness. It means taking care of my family and reaching out to less privileged persons that need help in society.”
The Love and Light singer added, “I feel motivated actually and it has spurred me to do more and not rest on my oars. I always tell myself to keep creating and keep going.”
On the inspiration behind his song, Lonely, the singer who was ‘discovered’ by Mr Eazi, said, “Lonely was created during the COVID-19 lockdown. We were all indoors and that feeling of loneliness crept in sometimes. It was produced by Dera the boy.”
On habit he would like to cultivate in 2021, the singer said, “I think the one habit I want to continue to grow in is reading. I have always loved to read and I picked it up again during the lockdown. I love reading and would continue to enjoy books.”
Joeboy came to the limelight with the release of his hit song, Baby, in March 2019, and it has garnered 20 million streams on YouTube and Spotify.
