Popular Nigerian singer, Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan, while speaking in a recent interview on an online television platform, said he had his first kiss in his twenties adding that he started his career at an early age.
He said, “I was in my twenties when I released my first singles. I was also in my twenties when I put out my first album. I had my first kiss in my twenties too. I wasn’t that promiscuous in my early days.”
Sultan also reiterated that his elder brother, Baba Dee, was instrumental to his early start, he said: “My brother had started before me. He always told me to just follow him. That following his lead gave me that jump and at the same time, I was learning the ropes through him. I was going everywhere he went to. I learnt early, so by the time I was 19, I was already going to some events. At 23, I had already released my own song and was touring the nation. People didn’t know I started early;they always call me a vampire. At 30, I was already a household name. All my peers were getting married and I was being asked to be the master of ceremonies at their weddings to the point that I got tired.”
He added, “When I wanted to turn 40, I asked myself what I had done. Every time, I always check my bucket list because I am passion driven. For me, it is about what makes me happy. I want to be happy while making money. 50 is my next milestone now. However, age is nothing but a number. It is how one ‘rocks’ one’s age that matters.”
