How Drunk policemen shot one dead in Ekiti hotel

A team of drunk policemen in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital flee after shooting dead a yet to be identified man at a hotel.

NEWSCASTARS.COM learnt from The Nation report that the incident occurred around 9:45pm saturday night at a hotel located along Ado-Ikere road while the victim, Olaoye Abayomi was with his friend, Idris Adebayo, at Queens Court Hotel along Ado-Ikere Road having good time.

The police officers who had escorted a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), got drunk and started misbehaving and one threatened to kill some of the guests before he opened fire all and a stray bullet hit two persons in the chest.

The victims were rushed to Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti where one was pronounced dead while the second victim was at EKSUTH’s Emergency care unit before being transferred to Afe Babalola University, Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti for intensive care.

Sources said the policemen that fired the shots were the ones that conveyed the two victims in their Hilux vehicle to the hospital but and abandoned the Hilux after dumping the victims.

Spokesperson for the police in the state, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident, adding that the command had commenced investigation into the matter.
