Former Wimbledon star, John Fahanu, has hailed Paul Onuachu’s scoring form following his impressive performance and goal scoring during Super Eagles both Afcon qualifiers.
He had scored a late winner against the Squirrels in Port Novo and grabbed the third against the Crocodiles in Lagos, coming on as substitutes on both occasions.
Onuachu form for Genk was initially placed on standby after Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr released his list for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Cup qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho but following the unavailability of some invited players, the 26-year-old forward was drafted into the team.
“I am happy that Onuachu was able to score on both occasions he was introduced into both games; it was wonderful because the end justifies the means. I remember when I said he was a great player and that he was the player that we needed and now I was right. I think everybody else have seen how football has to be understood at the right level,” Fashanu told The PUNCH, NEWSCASTARS.COM gathered.
“I want to tell Onuachu well done and a big congratulation because he has proved to everybody that he is still number one and indeed a goal king.
“Let’s just try to say we are not trying to prove anybody wrong but that we can have a successful team with the right players.”
He has 10 appearances for the Eagles and has found the back of the net on three occasions.
