Governor Zulum receives 6 girls who escaped from Boko Haram captivity with 9 children

Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum on Monday October 11, received 6 girls who escaped from Boko Haram enclaves with 9 children.

Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo told the governor that the victims between 20-25 years ran away from Boko Haram enclave at Buni Yadi axis of Yobe State and trekked through Sambisa Forest for about six hours before they were rescued by security operatives.

It was also learnt that one of them was 8 months pregnant when she was abducted saying the three girls abducted during a raid at Takulashu village of Chibok were Maryam Ishaya with one child, Racheal Simon with two children and Esther Ayuba with two children.

Alheri Ezekiel with two children, Victoria James also with two children, and Victoria Andrew were abducted from Cofure village, Hong town in Adamawa State.

The commissioner added;

“The three of them were abducted on the 3rd of October 2020, while other ones were abducted on 5th of May, 2021.”

Zulum received them at his office, Musa Usman Secretariat, Maiduguri, alongside some parents, Chairman of Chibok Local Government Area, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, traditional rulers, stakeholders including the Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Borno chapter, Bishop Williams Naga.
