The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, met with newspaper distributors and vendors in Abuja over the killing of one of them, Ifeanyi Okereke by his security aides on Thursday.
Leaders of the distributors in their separate speeches had said Gbajabiamila always identified with them on the streets of Abuja and their protests were not against the Speaker but to seek justice for Okereke.
NEWSCASTARS.COM had reported that the Speaker had earlier on Saturday visited the family of the slain newspaper vendor at Okereke’s family home in Kwata village in the Madalla/Suleja area of Niger State.
The victim whom after shot at the Federal Secretariat, selling on the Shehu Shagari Way,Abuja, around 3 pm on Thursday was taken to the National Hospital by his brother and some police officers, where he eventually died.
Okereke and other street vendors had flocked around the convoy of the Speaker, who was said to be in the habit of giving out money anytime he passed them before he was shot at.
