The founder of Flying Doctors Nigeria, Ola Orekunrin, has taken to her Twitter page to share her experience after she contracted the novel coronavirus.
”This year I was almost kidnapped on the way to a healthcare project in the notorious Birnin Gwari Local Government area.
I also had COVID19. Despite being fit with no pre-existing conditions, I stopped breathing (a medical emergency) and had to be on oxygen for a week.
Months later, I still have symptoms of Long COVID and am still recovering gradually. One of our oldest board members died. He was a chartered accountant who taught me a lot about portfolio management and hedging. 2020, was a tough year with both highs and lows.”
