FG apologizes and deletes tweets asking bank account owners to undergo compulsory registration after being attacked on Twitter

The Federal Government of Nigeria has now apologized to Nigerians after people expressed outrage over a report compelling all account holders in financial Institutions to undergo another compulsory registration exercise different from BVN.

Retracting the statement on Twitter,  FG deleted the thread where the announcement was made and an apology was also which reads: “We apologize for the misleading tweets (now deleted) that went up yesterday, regarding the completion of self-certification forms by Reportable Persons. The message contained in the @firsNigeria  Notice does not apply to everybody. FIRS will issue appropriate clarification shortly.”
