Customs hand over seized explosive materials to Police in Lagos

Some explosive items used to make bombs, have been handed over to officials of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit of Lagos state police after being seized by Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The explosive items were intercepted during the inward clearance of cargo in 2017 as they were concealed in cargos which were imported into the country from Germany and Israel.

Out of the 35 packages, 25 were stored in the dangerous room of SAHCO, while the other 10 packages were stored in the dangerous room of NAHCO shed. The explosives came in helium compressors, cartridges, power and radioactive materials.

Sambo said they decided to hand over the seized materials to the appropriate authorities for further action.
