Collaboration key to producing world-class African films — Actor, Kunle Afolayan

Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, says African filmmakers need to collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the global film industry in order to produce word-class films.

Speaking at a recent event, he said, “When I first saw the Canon EOS C500 Mark II camera in 2019, I was amazed at its capabilities. Normally, it’s not in a director’s place to tell a director of photography what kit to use but I always wanted to shoot in 4K full-frame and I knew that the camera would make it to the Netflix approved list, which was vital for my production. Thankfully, Jonathan Kovel, the DOP working on my new film, ‘Citation’ loved the camera and we were able to shoot the movie with it. That gave us another level of authenticity and creative freedom.”
