NEWSCASTARS.COM learnt that the Court of Appeal, Abuja, dismissed an appeal filed by Slok Nigeria Limited challenging the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court, Lagos which convicted former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor-Kalu to 12 years imprisonment and Jones Udeogo, a former Director of Finance in Abia State to 10 years in jail.
The duo were convicted on December 4 for a 7.1 billion naira fraud and approached the appellate court to set aside the judgment of the trial court for lack of jurisdiction.
Orji Uzor was the governor of Abia state between 1999 and 2007. He is currently the senator representing Abia North in the senate.
Three-member panel in a judgment prepared and read by Justice Olabisi Ige on Wednesday dismissed the appeal for lacking in merit.
