Human right activist, Deji Adeyanju has reacted to the judgment of Justice Okon Abang who today found former National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, guilty of money laundering and scented him to 7 years imprisonment.
Deji Adeyanju, says the judgement means that anyone who receives money for any transaction may go to jail if one do not investigate the source of the money.
On counts one and two, the PDP former spokesperson bagged seven years each, on count three, five years; count four, seven years; counts five and six, three years each and he got seven years for count 7. .
The judge also ordered him to pay a fine of N375m to the Federal Government and him firm, Destra Investments to pay N25m to the Federal Government.
The Federal High Court Judge also ordered the winding up Destra Investments, closure of its accounts in Diamond Bank and Asset Resource Management, and the forfeiture of the money in the accounts to the Federal Government.
